Medical and Ecological Anthropology Research

All staff and research associates of ISCA involved in research related to the above themes regularly do fieldwork and have long-standing research projects of their own. In addition, they are involved in collaborative work on various short- and long-term projects.

Some research projects coalesce around the following three mutually related topics: the anthropology of biocultural variation and obesity, the anthropology of Eastern medicines and religions, and Ethno-ecology. In addition, the Fertility and Reproduction Studies Group (FRSG) is active in teaching and research and produces a very successful monograph series. Finally, some researchers pursue projects that fall into the field of evolutionary nutrition and epidemiology, or none of the above fields but are from a theoretical viewpoint vital to the research climate.
