Ethno-ecology
Medical knowledge and practice is inevitably linked to the ways people perceive and relate to the environment they interact with. Ethno-ecology provides the opportunity to work in a cross-disciplinary perspective and provides a framework for medical anthropology and ethnobiology to meet and gain insights from each other. This is achieved by ethnographies of plants and animals used for medical purposes and of the body and the illnesses that these environmental elements are considered to heal and cure. The research projects grouped here into ethno-ecology bridge gaps between these usually separated university traditions in the social, medical and environmental sciences.
